OMB Approves two EPA NPRMs on Repealing Existing Standards – 6-6-25

Yesterday the OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) announced that it had approved two notices of proposed rulemakings (NPRMs) for the EPA on:

Repeal of Amendments to National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Coal- and Oil-Fired Electric Utility Steam Generating Units, and

Carbon Pollution Standards Repeal

Both rulemakings were sent to OIRA on May 2^nd, 2025. The relatively quick turnaround on these NPRMs indicates the political priority placed on these actions. We can probably expect to see these rules published in the Federal Register in the coming week.

I do not expect to cover either of these NPRMs in any depth, but I do expect to announce their publication in the appropriate Short Takes post.
