There were 72 bills introduced in the House and Senate
yesterday. Three of those bills may be of specific interest to readers of this
blog:
HR 2261
To facilitate the continued development of the commercial remote sensing
industry and protect national security. Rep.
Bridenstine, Jim [R-OK-1]
HR 2271
To amend the Federal Power Act with respect to critical electric infrastructure
security, and for other purposes. Rep.
Latta, Robert E. [R-OH-5]
HR 2277
To prohibit employers from compelling or coercing any person to authorize
access to a protected computer, and for other purposes. Rep.
Perlmutter, Ed [D-CO-7]
Not sure what kind of ‘remote sensing’ equipment being considered
in HR 2261. If it is space based I’ll probably discontinue following this bill.
I’ll continue following HR 2271 only if it includes
cybersecurity provisions which is likely.
HR 2277 probably deals with personal computers, if so this
will be the last mention of this bill.
