Today the EPA published a notice in the Federal Register (80 FR
33517-33518) announcing that it was establishing the Chemical Safety Advisory
Committee (CSAC) to provide advice and recommendations on the scientific basis
for risk assessments, methodologies, and pollution prevention measures or
approaches. The CSAC will advise the EPA’s Office of Pollution Prevention and
Toxics (OPPT).
The CASC will consist of 10 members. OPPT is soliciting nominations
for membership. OPPT is looking for nominees in the following disciplines:
∙ Toxicology;
∙ Pathology;
∙ Environmental toxicology and chemistry;
∙ Exposure assessment; and
∙ Related
sciences, (eg: synthetic
biology, pharmacology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, biochemistry,
biostatistics, pharmacologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling,
computational toxicology, epidemiology, environmental fate, and environmental
engineering and sustainability).
Nominations and comments on the CASC may be submitted via
the Federal eRulemaking Portal (www.Regulations.gov;
Docket #EPA-HQ-OPPT-2015-0233). Comments and/or nominations should be submitted
by July 13th, 2014.
