Yesterday, the OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) announced that it had received an advanced notice of proposed regulation (ANPRM) for “Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR); FAR Case 2023-008, Prohibition on Certain Semiconductor Products and Services”.
According to the Fall 2023 Unified Agenda entry for this rulemaking:
“This rule will prohibit agencies
from: (1) procuring or obtaining, or extending or renewing a contract to
procure or obtain, any electronic parts, products, or services that include
covered semiconductor products or services; or (2) entering into a contract, or
extending or renewing a contract, with an entity to procure or obtain
electronic parts or products that include covered semiconductor products or
services. This rule is issued pursuant
to section 5949(a) of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year
2023 [PL
117-263].”
