On
Thursday the Environmental Protection Agency submitted a notice to the OMB’s
Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) for approval concerning a
Risk Management Program request for information. I would assume that this is
related to the requirements of §6(a)(iii) of the
President’s Executive order on Increasing Chemical Safety and Security (EO
13650). That sub-paragraph requires that the Chemical Safety and Security
Working Group to “develop a plan for implementing practical and effective
improvements to chemical risk management identified pursuant to subsections
(a)(i) and (ii) of this section.”
It
will be interesting to see how long this takes to get out of the OMB. Depending
on how politically sensitive the recommendations made in the notice actually
are this may happen after Election Day in November.
