Congressional Hearings Week of 05-10-10

There is only one hearing scheduled for this week that might be of interest to the chemical security community. The Subcommittee on Intelligence, Information Sharing and Terrorism Risk Assessment of the House Homeland Security Committee will be holding a hearing on the continuing changes being made to the ‘DHS Intelligence Enterprise’. The hearing will be held on Wednesday May 12th at 10:00 am EDT and will be web cast. I will be surprised if anything about chemical security is directly mentioned, but the DHS intelligence folks will be the ones that we would expect to provide advance warning of potential terrorist attacks on the high-risk chemical facilities covered under CFATS. Thus any news or information about the improvement of that ‘Enterprise’ should be of interest to the chemical security community. BTW: Apparently sometime this weekend the House Appropriations Committee web site went live with a new look and organization. If you have a saved link to get to something on the site, do not be surprised if it doesn’t work. Just go to the Committee home page and then look for your information from there. Then, re-save the URL. That’s what I had to do today.
