Automation Security Forum

Walt Boyes over at ControlGlobal.com has made yet another contribution to the discussion of control systems security issues. He has included a Security Forum as part of his new Process Automation Usability Project (#PAutoUP ). This project is an online communications tool to allow the control system community to have a common place to address issues, get assistance and generally share ideas about industrial control systems. Walt ensured that control system security would be an active part of this discussion by including the ‘Security Forum’ in the project website. The Security Forum page explains that it “Forum is intended to facilitate the discussion of ways by which security of plants' process automation, information and wireless networks can be more readily maintained and managed”. It also asks the question: “What can be done to ensure physical and cyber security threats are properly detected prevented?” Registered users (no fee registration) may post questions, comments or responses to either. My first posting (the fourth posting on the site) asks the question “How much impact are the new Department of Homeland Security Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) having on the process automation industry?” I’ve added this site to the list of URL’s that I visit every day. I think that it will be a valuable addition to discussion of chemical facility security issues.
