This week officially starts the Trump Administration, with inauguration today. For the most part, Congress is still getting organized, but with the House and Senate both in session, there is a light committee schedule with some items of interest here. In the House we have more organizational hearings and the start of a look at dismantling the Biden agenda. In the Senate, they are mainly concentrating on getting Trump’s appointees approved.
Dismantling the Biden Agenda
On Wednesday, the Subcommittee on the Environment of the House Energy and Commerce Committee will hold a hearing on “A Decade Later: Assessing the Legacy and Impact of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act”.
Cabinet Votes
While hearings with appointee testimony are still being held, this week the Senate starts voting on members of the Trump Cabinet after today’s inauguration. Scheduled votes include:
Marco
A. Rubio, to be Secretary of State,
Kristi Noem,
to be Secretary of Homeland Security,
Russell
Voight, to be Director, Office of Management and Budget, and
Sean Duffy to be U.S. Secretary of Transportation,
