Yesterday, with the Senate in Washington and the House meeting in pro forma session, there were 45 bills introduced. Three of those bills may receive additional coverage in this blog:
HR 5491 To authorize the Director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to designate certain elements of critical infrastructure as systemically important, and for other purposes. Rep. Katko, John [R-NY-24]
HR 5492 To establish an Office of Manufacturing Security and Resilience in the Department of Commerce, and for other purposes. Rep. Kinzinger, Adam [R-IL-16]
HR 5501 To require certain entities to disclose to the Secretary of Homeland Security ransom payments, and for other purposes. Rep. Ross, Deborah K. [D-NC-2]
I will be watching HR 5491 and HR 5492 to see if this has an impact on cybersecurity or physical security oversight or regulation.
I will be watching HR 5501 for language or definitions that include
industrial control systems within the scope of the regulations.
