Yesterday the OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory
Affairs (OIRA) announced
that the EPA had withdrawn its notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) regarding
possible modifications to reportable quantities. The NPRM was submitted
earlier this month.
No reason was given for the rulemaking’s withdrawal. Having
said that, this is not the typical Trump Administration removal of an Obama
Administration rulemaking, so I suspect that we may see this rulemaking
resubmitted sometime in the future.
BTW: There is an interesting EPA
web page on the topic of RQ modifications that dates back to only September
28th, 2016.
