Yesterday, with both the House and Senate in session, there
were 33 bills introduced. Of those, one may be of specific interest to readers
of this blog:
HR
5356 To establish the National Security Commission on Artificial
Intelligence. Rep. Stefanik, Elise M. [R-NY-21]
Okay, I am not an AI geek, but this sounds like it may be
interesting. It was assigned to too many committees (5) to have much chance of
advancing, but I am probably going to be watching this one anyway. It will be
real interesting to see how they define ‘artificial intelligence’.
I have to mention another bill (actually a resolution) in
passing; no further coverage here. H Res 791 was introduced “Expressing support
for the designation of Cesar Chavez's birthday, March 31, as National Border
Control Day”. I’m not sure if this was intended as irony or a slap at Cesar
Chavez; it is hard to tell with Rep Gohmert (R,TX).
