Today the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration published two notices in the Federal Register (77 FR 5472 and 77 FR 5472-5473) extending the comment periods on two separate pipeline safety rulemaking efforts. The first concerns the NPRM for Miscellaneaous Changes to Pipeline Safety Regulations (Docket # PHMSA-2010-0026) and the second the ANPRM for Expanding the Use of Excess Flow Valves in Gas Distribution Systems to Applications Other Than Single-Family Residences (Docket # PHMSA-2011-0009). The new end-of-comment dates are, respectively March 6th, 2012 and March 19th, 2012. Both extensions came after PHMSA received requests for extension from potential commenters.

PJ, that Committee Staff Background Memo has an excellent summary of what the Committee views as amiss with the CFATS program. Thanks again for calling this to our attention, I gave this out in my blog, attributed to you. Anyone who wants to stay current on CFATS needs to read your blog.
