I don’t really cover the electric grid security issues that much, it is a specialized area of consideration that I just don’t have the time to study, but there is an upcoming Congressional haring on that topic that I’ll mention. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will be holding a hearing tomorrow morning at 9:30 am EDT where they will be discussing a committee draft of a bill dealing with cyber security of the bulk power system and electrical infrastructure.
I mention this because any comprehensive cyber security legislation for the electrical grid will certainly have to address control system security issues. Any such legislation could be a test bed for future legislation that could be used to address control system security issues in other critical infrastructure, including chemical facilities.
