DHS S&T TechSolutions ICR Renewal

Yesterday the Science and Technology Directorate of DHS published a notice in the Federal Register requesting public comments on the information collection request (ICR; OMB #1640-0011) renewal for the TechSolutions program that had been submitted to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) the previous day. The TechSolutions program was designed to provide information, resources and technology solutions that address mission capability gaps identified by the emergency response community.

Three different forms are covered by this information collection request. The allow the folks at S&T to collect the necessary data to register program users and collect the information needed to identify and document the technical needs of responders to more efficiently and safely respond to emergency situations. The approval of OMB for this ICR is necessary for S&T to be able to continue to collect this necessary information.

Some of the projects currently funded by the TechSolutions program include: the Next Generation Breathing Apparatus, the Advanced Personal Protection System, and the Vehicle Mounted Chemical Detector System.

Public comments need to be submitted by October 1st, 2010. Comments need to be submitted to OMB via email to oira_submission@omb.eop.gov or faxed to (202) 395-6974. Comments should be addressed to the Desk Officer for the Department of Homeland Security and should include Docket Number DHS-2010-0072.
