CSAT Site Security Plan Page Update

Today, the Department of Homeland Security Infrastructure Security Compliance Division (ISCD) updated the web page for the CFATS Chemical Security Assessment Tool (CSAT) Site Security Plan (SSP). The only change to the page was to provide a link to a new advisory document the Helpful Tips for Completing a CFATS Site Security Plan.

This document was developed to “provide additional clarity” to the regulated community about what DHS has learned about the SSP process from actual site visits and in responding to questions from the chemical security community. This five-page document addresses five major areas:

● Appropriate Level of Detail
● Identifying Specific “Assets” and “Systems”
● Security Measures Appropriate to Specified Risk Levels
● Facility-Wide v. Asset-Specific Security Measures
● Year-Round View
I’ll provide a more detailed review of this document next week; but it certainly seems that anyone involved in the SSP process should download this relatively small .PDF file.
