Yesterday the Chemical Safety Board announced
the publication of their final
report on the fire at the Marathon Refinery in Martinez, CA. The November
19th, 2023 fire seriously injured one employee and caused $3.5
million in damages. The report identified six key safety issues and made eight
recommendations to Marathon Martinez Renewables, Marathon Corporation, and the American
Petroleum Institute to help prevent future accidents of this sort. The closure
of this incident leaves seven open
investigations being conducted by the Board.
