Yesterday the folks at DHS Infrastructure Security
Compliance Division (ISCD) published their latest update on the status us CFATS
site security plans. As expected due to the holidays the number of authorized
and approved site security plans increased at a slower rate last month than
they have at any time in the last year.
Interestingly the number of plans approved outnumbered the
number of plans authorized last month. I guess with over 70% of the facilities
now having authorized site security plans, ISCD is able to spend more time in
site security plan approvals.
ISCD continues to report declining numbers of CFATS covered
facilities without any public accountability as to how the facilities are being
dropped from the roles. Almost 700 facilities have been dropped from the CFATS
roles in the last year.
