Yesterday, the Chemical Safety Board (CSB) announced that it was sending a team of investigators to Freemont, NE the site of an apparent wood dust explosion at a biofuels processing facility. As I noted earlier today local news reports (here, here, here, and here) that an employee and his two daughters were killed in the explosions and fire at the facility.
These investigators will be tasked with looking at the
situation and develop sufficient information for the Board to decide if it will
be formally investigating this incident. The Board currently has seven open
investigations.
