This week the Congressional Research Service published a report on “Wagner Group Mutiny in Russia”. It provides an overview of non-intelligence information that is known about last weekends very public coup, mutiny, or political stunt in Russia. It includes lots of links to open-source publications about the topics discussed.
As usual, the report concludes with a ‘Potential Issues Facing Congress’ section that looks at three questions that might have impacts on future congressional action:
• What Does the Mutiny Mean for
Russian Military Forces’ Ability to Counter Ukraine’s Counteroffensive?
• Did the “Deal” Between Prigozhin
and the Kremlin Actually End the Mutiny?
• What Does the Mutiny Mean for
Putin’s Rule and Stability?
