OMB Approves PHMSA Gas Transmission Pipeline Final Rule

Yesterday, OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) announced that it had approved a final rule from DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) on “Pipeline Safety: Safety of Gas Transmission Pipelines, Repair Criteria, Integrity Management Improvements, Cathodic Protection, Management of Change, and Other Related Amendments”. The rule was submitted to OIRA in February.

There was no notice of proposed rulemaking issued for this action. It first appeared in the Spring 2018 Long-Term Actions portion of the Agenda listed as a final rule. It was split off from the 2137-AE72 rulemaking that had its NPRM published on March 8^th, 2016.
