This week, with both the House and Senate in session, there will be a relatively heavy hearing schedule, mostly because of FY 2023 spending and the FY 2023 NDAA. There will also be a hearing on freight rail safety that may be of interest.

Freight Rail Safety
On Tuesday, the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a hearing on “Examining Freight Rail Safety”. The witness list (two panels) includes:
Thomas B. Chapman, NTSB,
Roy L. Morrison, Teamsters,
Don Grissom, TCU/IAM,
Grady C. Cothen Jr., Consultant,
Nathan Bachman, Loram Technologies,
Cindy Sanborn, Norfolk Southern, and
Jeremy Ferguson, Sheet Metal, Air, Rail, Transportation Union
Panel 2 is packed with union representatives, I suspect that
there may be some complaints about railroad safety short cuts.
