Yesterday
the House passed HR
4005, the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2014. A bipartisan
voice vote brought the consideration of the bill to a close after just about
45 minutes.
There
was very little actual debate during the consideration
of the bill. Most of the discussion was more praise for the bipartisan leadership
of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee for their ability to work
together to craft this legislation.
The
only question about this becoming law is when or if Sen. Reid (D, NV) will
bring the bill to the floor for a vote. I expect that he will and probably well
before the summer recess.
