The House today, as expected, passed HR 933, the Department
of Defense, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Full-Year
Continuing Appropriations Act, 2013. The
vote was more bipartisan than I expected with 14 Republicans voting Nay and
53 Democrats voting Aye.
There was less than a half-hour of debate on the bill with a
similar amount of debate on H. Res. 99, the rule outlining the limits of debate
on this bill. So much for controversy.
The bill now goes to the Senate. It is beginning to look
like there is a chance that this bill will get to the floor for a vote. There
will likely be amendments offered and some may pass. It is still too early to
tell for sure.
