Correction to “DHS FAQ Page Update – 09-05-08”

It appears that someone at DHS reads my blogs. After my comment yesterday that a recent FAQ answer seemed to indicate that all gasoline stations should file a Top Screen for having more than 10,000 lbs of gasoline on hand, DHS modified the response to FAQ # 1583. Instead of the passage that I quoted in yesterday’s blog (see: “DHS FAQ Page Update – 09-05-08”) the answer now reads:

  • “However, a facility that possesses gasoline that contains a release-flammable COI stored in an above ground tank at or above 1% with a total weight of 10,000 pounds or more must select ‘gasoline’ under ‘Fuels’ and enter the total quantity at or above 10,000 pounds.” Emphasis added.

Most gasoline stations use underground tanks and thus are off the hook.
