Last month, Sen Warner (D,VA) introduced S 4503, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023. The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence published their Report on the bill. There are two cybersecurity related provisions in the bill and no additional cybersecurity matters are discussed in the Committee Report.
Moving Forward
This is one of those ‘must pass’ legislative requirements. In recent years this has most often ended up being included as a Division within the final version of the National Defense Authorization Act or the end of year consolidated spending bill.
The House version of the bill (HR 8367)
was also introduced last month, but the House Permanent Select Committee on
Intelligence has not yet published their report on that bill. There is no
cybersecurity language in that version of the bill.
