On Tuesday with both the House and Senate in Washington
there eleven bills introduced. Of these one may be of specific interest to
readers of this blog:
S 3405
A bill to reauthorize the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS)
Program of the Department of Homeland Security. Sen.
Johnson, Ron [R-WI]
This is the Senate version of a long-awaited reauthorization
bill {I do expect that Rep. McCaul (R,TX) will propose one as well}. The
official version of the bill has yet to be printed, but the Senate Homeland
Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has a committee
draft of the bill on its site. I will have a more detailed review of the
bill later, but it does include some ‘regulatory relief’ on explosive chemicals
and would extend the CFATS program for five years.
