Yesterday with both the House and Senate in session there
were 37 bills introduced. Of these, three may be of specific interest to
readers of this blog:
HR 6399
To direct that certain assessments with respect to toxicity of chemicals be
carried out by the program offices of the Environmental Protection Agency, and
for other purposes. Rep. Biggs, Andy [R-AZ-5]
HR
6401 To assist the Department of Homeland Security in preventing emerging
threats from unmanned aircraft and vehicles, and for other purposes. Rep.
McCaul, Michael T. [R-TX-10]
HR
6407 To require the Administrator of General Services to transfer certain
surplus computers and technology equipment to nonprofit computer refurbishers
for repair and distribution, and for other purposes. Rep.
Garrett, Thomas A., Jr. [R-VA-5]
My interest in the first two bills should be rather obvious,
but the third is a bit of a stretch for coverage here. What I will be looking
for in this bill is any language in the bill that would require agencies to
strip all information from the memories from the covered devices before
providing them to refurbishers. I do not really expect such language to be
there, but I can always hope.
