This morning, after minimal debate, the House adopted H. Res
825, accepting the Senate’s amendments to HR
2838, the Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2012. As I noted in an earlier
blog post nothing in this revised bill explicitly addresses chemical
safety, transportation security or the Maritime Transportation Security Act
(MTSA). Again, Congress seems to be focusing more on the traditional roles of
the Coast Guard in this bill. Maybe this will give regulators a chance to catch
up with previous year’s versions of this bill.
The bill now goes to the President for signature.
