Review – HR 6605 Introduced – UAS and cUAS Report

Last month Rep Vasquez (D,NM) introduced HR 6605, the Secure Our Skies Drone Safety Act of 2025. The bill would require the GAO to prepare a report for Congress on the use of unmanned aircraft systems and on systems developed to counter such unmanned aircraft systems by Federal, State, local, and Tribal agencies. No new funding is authorized in the bill.

I could find no bills in the 118th Congress that would appear to be similar to HR 6605.

Moving Forward

Neither Vasquez, nor this sole cosponsor {Rep Kiggans (R,VA)}, are members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to which this bill is assigned for consideration. This means that there is probably not sufficient influence to see the bill considered in Committee. I see nothing in this bill that would engender organized opposition. I suspect that it would receive some measure of bipartisan support were it considered.
