There was an hot asphalt release at a roofing shingle manufacturing plant that resulted in a fire. One contractor was transported to the hospital ‘in serious condition’. There was limited damage to the facility.
Probable CSB reportable.
Midway, TN – 11-24-24

There was a nitric acid release during the startup of a nitric acid plant. The plume was released from an exhaust stack. There were no injuries or damage reported.

EL DORADO, AR – 12-5-24

There was a process upset at a chemical manufacturing facility that resulted in a release of an unreported amount of an unreported chemical. No injuries were reported. The manufacturing unit remains shut-down pending repairs.
Probably not a CSB reportable, depending on the extent and cost of repairs.
Van Nuys, CA – 12-7-24

There was a small fire and spill of hydrogen peroxide at a brewery. No injuries or damages were reported.

The CSB has published their FY2024 Performance and Accountability Report, as of 9/30/24: https://www.csb.gov/assets/1/6/signed_(clean)_-_fy_2024_par.pdf.
Not a lot of controversy here, but the overall question remains of what will happen when Trump becomes President. The terms of all three current Board members will expire before Trump leaves office, and Trump sought to eliminate the CSB entirely during his previous term.
