Yesterday with the House meeting in pro forma session there
were 81 bills introduced. Keeping in mind that most bills introduced in pro
forma sessions are done so for local political posturing, there are two bills
that may see future coverage in this blog:
HR
8048 To establish in the Department of Homeland Security a program to make
grants for emergency information technology expenses, and for other purposes. Rep.
Langevin, James R. [D-RI-2]
HR
8059 To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to submit to Congress a
report on the security and resilience of the United States medical supply
chains, and for other purposes. Rep.
Trone, David J. [D-MD-6]
I will be watching HR 8048 for language or definitions that
would include operational technology in the coverage of the bill.
I will be watching HR 8059 for language or definitions that
would include medical device software in the coverage of the bill, but I
suspect that this is a COVID-19 related bill looking at the supply of masks and
medicines rather than the cybersecurity of medical devices.
