This afternoon the House passed HR
3584, the Transportation Security Administration Reform and Improvement Act
of 2015 by a voice
vote. While 40 minutes was allocated for the debate of this bill, the House
only needed 8 minutes. The bill will now move to the Senate.
While the bill has broad bipartisan support, it is not yet
clear that the language in this bill will actually be considered in the Senate
(though I suspect that it likely will be). We will have to see if the Senate Commerce,
Science and Transportation Committee will have substitute language that they
would rather see in the bill. The current House language, if it is considered,
will likely be passed under unanimous consent procedures.
