While the House and Senate were considering their options on
HJ Res 59, two other alternative continuing resolutions were introduced. There
were no other bills of potential specific interest to readers of this blog
introduced yesterday. The two alternative CRs were:
HJ RES 67 Latest Title: Requiring
reaffirmation of the Affordable Care Act and making continuing appropriations
for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep
Crawford, Eric A. "Rick" (R,AR)
HJ RES 69 Latest Title: Making
continuing appropriations for fiscal year 2014, and for other purposes. Sponsor: Rep
Reed, Tom (R,NY)
Neither Crawford or Reed are members of the Appropriations
Committee so it is extremely unlikely that either bill will get serious
consideration.
Interestingly, because of the shutdown the public will not
get a chance to see either of these bills published until after they become
redundant because the GPO is closed down for the duration. Fortunately (a touch
of sarcasm here) Congress is unaffected; their funding continues to allow them
to operate.
