CIKR Learning Series Page Update 05-25-10

Late yesterday DHS updated their Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources Learning Series [link added 05-26-10 22:45 EDT] web page. For some unexplained reason they removed the link to the last webinar that was added to the available archives, 2010 Hurricane Season: Tools for Understanding Risk. This webinar was held earlier this month and had just been added to the archive earlier this week. I checked this morning and the link above is still operational.

CIKR Learning Series Page Updated 05-20-10

Today DHS updated their Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR) Learning Series web page. They moved the listing for the webinar that was held earlier this month to the “Review past CIKR Learning Series webinars” list on the page. Clicking on the “2010 Hurricane Season: Tools for Understanding Risk” will take one to a recorded version of that webinar.

CIKR Learning Series Update 04-29-10

Yesterday DHS updated their Critical Infrastructure Key Resources (CIKR) Learning Series web page to include an announcement about their next webinar: “2010 Hurricane Season: Tools for Understanding Risk”. While this is not strictly a chemical security topic, most chemplant security folks deal with planning for and responding to natural disasters as well. According to the notice this webinar will “highlight HITRAC’s hurricane-related advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis capabilities”. HITRAC is the Homeland Infrastructure Threat and Risk Analysis Center. It is the “Department's infrastructure-intelligence fusion center”, providing “actionable risk-informed analysis for federal, state, local, tribal, territorial, private sector, and international partners”. Using their risk analysis tools to look at hurricane related risks certainly falls within the new ‘all risk’ focus of the Department. Any chemical facility within hurricane distance of the Atlantic or Gulf coasts might find this informative. The webinar will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2010, 1:00-2:00pm EST. You can register online.

CIKR Webinar Update – 12-21-09

Thanks to the folks at CIPP@news.infracritical.com for updating me about the change that was made in the schedule for this month’s CIKR webinar that was supposed to be held later this afternoon. The DHS CIKR Learning Series website was updated after I had made my regular morning check so I wouldn’t have known about this change until tomorrow. I’m assuming that everyone that was already registered to take part in the webinar was notified by email this morning. Due to the weather conditions in the Washington, DC area, Federal Employees have apparently been given the adult equivalent of a snow day. As a result this afternoon’s webinar (Critical Infrastructure Resiliency: The Next Frontier in Homeland Security) has been postponed until Wednesday, January 6, 3:00-4:00 PM (EST). According to the web site, re-registration is not required.
