This afternoon the House considered HR
8029, the Pay Our Homeland Defenders Act, under a closed rule. After an hour and 20 minutes
of debate, the House passed the bill by a near party line vote of 218 to
206. Four Democrats and one Independent vote Aye. The bill now goes to the
Senate where it will suffer the same problems as HR 7147,
the nearly identical bill that was passed in the House on January 22nd,
2026, but has not been able to gain the 60 votes needed for passage in the
Senate.
