The House held their second vote for a Speaker of the House to replace Rep McCarthy who was removed from that position earlier this month. Rep Jordan (R,OH), the Republican nominee, did not receive the requisite majority of the votes cast (433), losing 22 Republican votes to other, unnominated candidates (including McCarthy and Scalise). The House recessed subject to the call of the Chair.
Jordan added the following votes:
• Bilirakis (was not in Washington
to vote yesterday),
• LaMalfa (voted for McCarthy on
first ballot),
• Spartz (voted for Massie on first ballot),
Jordan lost the following votes:
• Buchanan (voted for Donalds
today),
• Ferguson (voted for Scalise
today),
• Miller-Meeks (voted for Granger
today),
• Stauber (voted for Westerman
today)
