Yesterday, the OMB’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) announced that it had approved, consistent with change, an interim final rule (IFR) from DOC’s Bureau of Industry and Standards (BIS) on “Export Controls on Semiconductor Manufacturing Items”. There is no listing for this rulemaking in the Spring 2023 Unified Agenda.
I do not expect that there will be anything in this rulemaking dealing with cybersecurity issues, but it will almost certainly have some sort of impact semiconductor supply chain issues for control system products especially the development of new technology.
The IFR may be published late next week, or sometime the following week.
