Yesterday the Senate passed the revised House version of HR
2576, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (TSCA
reform) by a voice vote. The vote was preceded by 45
minutes of ‘debate’ which was mainly congratulatory speechifying in support
of the bill. The President is expected to sign the bill.
Now we just have to wait on the EPA to re-write the
regulations enforcing the program. That will almost certainly be done under the
next administration. It will be interesting to see if this is even mentioned on
the 2016 Campaign trail.
