Last Friday (3-14-08) the House Homeland Security Committee officially reported the Chemical Facility Anti-terrorism Act of 2008 out of committee. The favorable report (House Report 110-550) was certainly not unexpected since the committee wrote the legislation
When the legislation was introduced on March 11th it was referred to both the Committee on Homeland Security and to the Committee on Energy and Commerce. Last Friday, the Speaker granted the Energy and Commerce Committee an extension until April 11th to complete their consideration of the legislation. Apparently the House leadership intends to bring this bill to the floor during the current session.
