Energy and Commerce Committee Provides TSCA Witness Testimony

Today the House Energy and Commerc Committee [corrected committee 4-28-14 7:55 CDT] published the witness testimony for tomorrow’s hearing on the draft Chemicals in Commerce act. There is also a new witness added since I did my weekly Congressional Hearing post on Saturday; James Jones, Assistant Administrator, Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention, US EPA.

I probably will not have a chance to review the testimony or the revised bill before the weekend; happy reading.

Committee Provides Witness List for TSCA Bill Hearing

The House Energy and Commerce Committee has published a witness list for the Wednesday hearing before it’s Environment and the Economy Subcommittee looking at the discussion draft for a new proposed TSCA replacement bill, the Chemicals in Commerce Act. The witnesses are from an interesting and relatively balanced cross section of public and private organizations that have an interest in chemical safety legislation. I’m assuming that some future hearing will called to get the views of the governmental organizations that will be responsible for implementing the proposed legislation’s requirements.

The witness list incudes

The web site also includes a link to the Hearing Memo which includes a section-by-section review of the discussion draft of the proposed bill. There will be inevitable changes to this language before it is even officially introduced, so I’ll wait to do a more detailed review until after it is introduced.
