Yesterday with both the House and Senate in session there
were 32 bills introduced. Of these, two will probably receive further coverage
in this blog:
HR
251 To extend by two years the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards
Program of the Department of Homeland Security, and for other purposes. Thompson,
Bennie G. [D-MS-2]
S
29 A bill to establish the Office of Critical Technologies and Security,
and for other purposes. Sen.
Warner, Mark R. [D-VA]
HR 251 has been sponsored by a significant bipartisan list
of members from both the House Homeland Security and Energy and Commerce
Committees. I suspect that there will be early action on this bill.
A press
release about S 29 notes that the White House office that would be created
by this bill would be targeting telecom security issues, particularly supply
chain issues concerning Chinese telecom companies. Definitions will be
important in this bill.
