This morning the Senate confirmed Nicholas Mayorkas to be
Deputy Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security by a mostly party-line vote
of 54-41. The Noes were not so much against Mayorkas as against voting on
his nomination while he was still under investigation by the DHS IG for alleged
improprieties while he has been the Director of US Citizenship and Immigration
Services.
