Bills Introduced – 03-13-19

Yesterday with both the House and Senate in session there were 87 bills introduced. Two of these were cybersecurity related bills that may receive additional coverage in this blog:

HR 1731 To amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to promote transparency in the oversight of cybersecurity risks at publicly traded companies. Rep. Himes, James A. [D-CT-4]

S 771 A bill to amend section 21 of the Small Business Act to require cyber certification for small business development center counselors, and for other purposes. Sen. Rubio, Marco [R-FL]

I will be watching these bills for specific language and or definitions related to industrial control system security.

Bills Introduced – 03-07-17

Yesterday, with both the House and Senate in session, there were 80 bills introduced. Of those, two may be of specific interest to readers of this blog:

HR 1392 To establish a National TechCorps program, and for other purposes. Rep. Bera, Ami [D-CA-7]

S 536 A bill to promote transparency in the oversight of cybersecurity risks at publicly traded companies. Sen. Reed, Jack [D-RI]

The first bill will only be covered here if it contains cybersecurity provisions, particularly control system security provisions.

It will be interesting to see if the Senate bill specifically addresses the unique issues related to control system security.
