PHMSA Cell Phone Ban Sent to OMB

Yesterday the RegInfo.gov web site announced that the Office of Management an Budget (OMB) had received the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration’s (PHMSA) final rule on the use of cell phones by HAZMAT drivers. This rule (HM-256A) is expected to parallel the recently issued rule against texting by HAZMAT drivers.

Given the priority that Administration has given to the DOT campaign against distracted driving I would expect the final rule to be approved within weeks instead of months we normally see after the OMB receives the rule.
