HSINAC Meeting 10-19-09

DHS announced in Friday’s Federal Register that the Homeland Security Information Network Advisory Committee will meet from October 19, 2009 to October 21, 2009, in Potomac, MD. The meeting will be open to the public, but public participation will not be allowed. Advanced registration is required for access to the venue. According to the notice the “meeting agenda will include discussion about the following topics: Demonstration of the system update, capabilities release timelines and milestones, change control board, future requirements, policy, committee reports, security and controlled unclassified information” (74 FR 52250). Personnel wishing to submit written comments or information have until October 16th to get those comments to Gabrielle Gallegos via electronic mail to HSINAC@DHS.Gov or by mail to: Gabrielle Gallegos Department of Homeland Security 245 Murray Lane, SW., BLDG 410 Washington, DC 20528-0426 An interesting note about this particular notice; this is the first time that I have noticed an extensive listing of point of contact for information on “facilities or services for individuals with disabilities or to request special assistance at the meeting”. Modes of contact listed include TTY/ASCII, VCO, and Braille as well as providing for Spanish language sources. While I am not sure how many non-English speakers will have a direct interest in the HSIN, it is always good to see provisions made for those with physical disabilities.
